wiper motor runs constant

I have a 69 firebird just purchased without a wiper motor. Put a rebuilt one in and as soon as I turn on the key it runs constant and will not shut off? Appreciate any help.

Do you have wiper arms/blades on it?

I had the same problem on a '69 Chevelle, and it turned out that the wiper motor needs to be under load (linkage, arms, & blades installed) or else it can coast past the point where it would normally go into the park sequence, and just run continuously.

Hope this helps.....

Check out the attached diagram.
The GM setup uses a special switch that controls the motor by various grounding combinations for fast, slow and stop.
An end (of travel) switch in the motor actually interrupts the circuit when the wipers park.

I did not have it hooked up. When I originally hooked it up it only moved 6 inches then stopped... I will hook it all up and try again Thank you..

It is quite possible the rebuilt is no good. I have seen many out of the box failures on cheapo rebuilts. If it is an A1 Cardone, chances are it is bad.
You would be better off finding a good used one to be honest.

Detroit Speed Shop sells a 7 speed direct replacement, wire harness included, I put one on mine and the wipers have never worked so smooth.
