Post Wiper problem

Arrg.

Hi folks,

I need help with my windshield wipers...

The wipers only work when I push the switch in to activate the windshield washers but they do not work in the slow or fast mode. I have tryed another wiper motor and it does the same thing.

Is this a common problem or a switch problem and where can I get another wiper switch??

Thanks for the help

Tom

I had the same problem once.. Pretty soon, they just quit working all together and it turns out there was a short in the switch. If you can get the switch apart, try cleaning the switch. Mine had two little tabs I had to carefully bend away to get it apart but it worked out.

I'd also check the wiring to the motor itself, make sure it isn't damaged where it goes through the firewall or something.

I donít think you are getting a good ground at the firewall, There should be a copper strap that runs between one of the rubber insulators that holds the motor assembly to the firewall. This links the actual motor case to the firewall. This provides the motor's ground connection. Without it, the motor will not "see" ground because it is mounted on rubber insulating bushings. Also make sure the switch is tight and making a good ground and check that ground strap on the engine!
