So just run the braided ground straps sort of like the stock ones. Should I just connect an 8 gauge wire to the fuel pumps hot wire(I'm guessing 16 gauge) right where the wire goes into the pump. But the battery running straight into a 30 amp switch through 8 gauge wire won't fry the switch.

I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but I think it would be a good idea for you to seek some input from someone locally who is familiar with auto electrical work.

I'm a little pressed for time right now with relatives coming over for Christmas dinner, but after things settle down I will try and put together a CAD drawing of a simplified wiring diagram for a main disconnect switch, fuel pump switch, and ignition switch.
