Wiring harness
Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket harness to fit a Dodge 318/360 EFI using the stock computer. Trying to put one in a 51 Dodge.

Doc here,
Contact Ron Francis Electrical, I'm sure he makes one.. In fact, If you haven't already, stuck to the top of this forum is a thread titled "Wiring Harness" ..check there, read ALL the possibilities from those that have used them, and Ron and the owner of EZ2Wire are posting Tech answers there. Doc

Wiring Harness
I have never seen a generic one for the EFI 318 engines.
I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 Quadratrac that I have been eyeballing as a donor for chassis and drivetrain. Like perhaps slip that chassis under my 2000 S10 with its puny 4-banger. Maybe lower it and leave it all wheel drive. I drove a Syclone once and was impressed... The stock wiring harnesses for the 318 seem to be engine-specific; lots of year-to-year changes in the sensors and so on. For example Jeep V8 pre-1998 is OBD I (On Board Diagnostics level I) and the 1998 and up is OBD II, so there are huge differences in those wiring looms and computers. A Jeep wiring loom could fit in your truck, there is a lot of room there. I was planning to carefully remove the stock harness and peel it down to just the parts I need, shorten, lengthen, etc. I have done projects like that for a living so it doesn't seem like such a huge task anymore. If you discover a generic wiring harness for the 318/360 using the stock computer I'd like to hear about that. Jon P |

Doc here,
Not sure if you have been to his site or not.. But Ron will build it Custom for you if you provide the data required. Here is the order form page : Ron Francis Custom order He builds a Pretty good system and backs it up fairly well...However his costs are a BIT rich for my taste..(and most others... ) But when ya need it..whadda ya gonna do? ... (DIY! However , the best (cheapest ) bet Is carefully removing the stock harnes from the Donor car as ElegantInventor suggests... Doc

Mopar Action amagzine has been working with Mopar Performance on releasing a wiring harness and computers for EFI engines (plug and play for older vehicles). I think the computers will be for 360 only, though.
It should be out soon, but who knows... Good luck, Ran |
