Check the fuel filter.
Check that fuel tank is vented and working properly.
Do a fuel pressure test.

check spark with inline tester, as you probably know heat creates resistance. unless its a brand new coil never eliminate from equation. just a thought.

OK changed both filters. no difference. the throttle response is good will hold hight rpm. I did use some starter fluid and it would keep running. I sprayed at the base of carb to check for air leeks nothing there. If i hold the choke half way down it will idle well. can idel screws come out of wack in a few weeks just setting aorund?

I had the same problem with a qjet. It had backfired and burned the top of the cork style float and stuck it to the top of the carb. It would run for a little and quit. It would sit and leak the bowl back full start and run a little. Take the top off the carb and make sure the float is moving and set correctly. This was on a 70 Judge. Mike

its an edelbrock q jet so has updated float. If i leave the hot wire of the choke she will idle fine. Once u let the chock open she goes down hill. spraying around the carb makes no difference. this just make no since. the truck ran great 3 weeks ago. then bam **** idle.

Your idle is lean, needs to be richened up. Adjust the mixture screws OUT (counter clockwise) to add more fuel. It runs with the choke on because the choke restricts the airflow and forces more fuel into the motor when it's cold........

Some basic tuning is all you need.

I missed that part. Check your idle air bleeds for blockage. They are the little holes on the top of the carb near each of the primary venturi. Blast them out with carb clean and see if that helps.
