Won't shift into third while accelerating

Oh boy.........me thinks I hear a very bad sound coming from my transmission. Something sounded like it let go, and now it will not shift into third while accelerating...but will shift when I start to lift off the pedal....thats when you hear the rattling, but only in third. If I shift down it stops......This is a six month old B&M 350.I do not abuse this car. It is a weekend cruiser. I romp on it a little . Could this be only the torque converter ? How can I tell ? This is my first automatic and I am not sure how to proceed..........jerry

I don't know about the noise but make sure your vacuum line from the tranny is hooked to the manifold Had this same problem on my vette after working on my carb. must have accidently knocked it loose.
