wood , ploy, what to use
I'm in the middle of reworking my gauge cluster on my 71 chevy pick me up.
and the autometer gauges. ole tyme style.. the lower 4) 2 1/16th"
fit the gauge trim like they are factory.. the top three , thats another story..
My Grant wheel is a walnut wood, and the center console that I'm grabing from the olds blazer the trim around the shifter match..
Soooooooooo, of course my idea to make the top three gauges(speedo/tach/clock) look like they belong there is wood to fill the gap between the gauge size and the trim gauge panel hole size.. and it'll flow well with the wood wheel and console trim..
the question is can I (do I ) use standard minwax poly.. or do I need a marine grade.. I have a little under 2 gallons of satin wood floor poly.. and gloss..
and do I poly all the way around the wood to basically seal it. to keep the swelling and shrinking down
thanks for any help..
