C-Charlie,

If you look real close in the bottom pic. you can see the rough door opening on the right hand side of the new stud wall that is going up. This wall separates the "rod shop" from the daily drivers. The main entry door door for the garage is on south end, closest to our house, and enters to the daily drivers. You then walk through that section to the door of the rod shop section. Both the exterior and interior doors are lockable to provide just a little more security.

We'll be up for the show. Care to let me know the time and how to find it? I'm gunna try to make it a weekend getaway for me and Dawn. Without her finding out about Saturday. This could be fun.

schnitz,

The Lake of the Torches show is on Sept. 18 & 19th - with a car cruise on Sat. (18th) and the show itself on Sun. (19th). The Saturday Cruise starts at 3 pm and "lines up" in downtown Lac du Flambeau at the Family Resource Center (you can't miss the cars). The show is on Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm and is right across the road from the Casino.

It's very easy to get here. Just come up route 51 to Minocqua/Woodruff. Once in Woodruff you will hit the intersection with Hwy 47 (it's a stoplight). You'll go left (west) on 47. Lac du Flambeau is about 12 miles out of Woodruff. Once in LDF you'll see the Casino/Hotel on your right. Downtown LDF will be on your left.

You should be able to spot my pickup without any trouble - it's the one in my avitar/project journal. If you send me a PM with your snail mail address I can send you a flyer for the show with the registration form etc.

Dewey

Very, very nice. That looks like a great location, huge driveway and a peaceful setting...at least until you start your car, right

Awesome cboy.

So what are you using for your ceiling? You mentioned metal-whatcha got in mind?

On another note, how do you like your Kwiklift?

bigbird,

The ceiling is going to be (I'm starting on it today) those ribbed steel panels that are used for metal buildings. I'm using the 12' lengths because two of them will just make the width of the ceiling with a couple inches of overlap in the center. By tonight or tomorrow I'll be able to tell you if they are a huge problem to install. I chose metal because a) a number of folks in the garage forum recommended metal and b) I absolutely hate putting up drywall on a ceiling by myself. (Actually I hate drywall even if there are 10 people to help.)

Can't tell you if I like the Kwik Lift or not since I just got it a couple weeks ago and I'm not going to set it up until I get the basic work in the garage finished. I've talked to two people I trust who have them and they both had good recommendations. Obviously not the perfect solution but it will sure be better than the old process of jacking it up and getting it onto stands (plus MUCH safer).

That does look like a great garage. How long do you think it will be before one of the daily drivers gets kicked out for expansion? They are there just to reserve the space, right?

Well, my wife says she isn't going to park her's in the garage until I buy the garage door opener and get it installed. She doesn't like the inconvenience of opening the door by hand.

So far she's buying my story that the Iraq rebuilding program has created a garage door opener shortage at Home Depot, Sears and Menards that could last well past 2010.
