Post Worth it?

I have a chance to get a 1974 Camaro Z28 that only needs body work.
Good friend and he will take payments, it needs a little bodywork but will pass state inspection as it is.
Not a numbers matching car but I can get it cheap, he has another he wants to keep himself and that one has rear end problems.
How do I convince my wife this is a GREAT deal? <img src="graemlins/boxing.gif" border="0" alt="[boxing]" /> <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" /> <img src="graemlins/spank.gif" border="0" alt="[spank]" />
I can make payments for the car, and my renters monthly payment will cover it, so it won't actually cost me anything in the end.

In case you all wanna know it has a 350 with reworked heads, 350/375hp cam, marine intake (cadet racers trick work done to it), Headers and dual 2 1/2 inch with flowmaster mufflers, 1200 rpm stall convertor in TH-400 tranny, 3.73 gears, positraction. But if I get it I will change the ignition to an aftermarket HEI.

I could also tell her its for mothers' day and put it in her name also.
I have in the past gotten her a minivan for mothers' day. <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" />
I won't divulge the price we already worked out, but she doesn't think its worth it.
What would this car be worth, cash money - drive it home today if you had it paid for.

One last thing...

Get it into the yard and "appear" to store it for a period of time, then claim to "put a lien on it" for storage payment. Willing friend then "gifts" you the car and voila! You own a 74 Camaro.

Actual cash payments can be funded through your usual beer/illicit drug fund (you do have one don't you?) and with those easy payment terms you may even be able to still use some B/I.D. fund money for it's intended purpose...slow brain cell DNA reconciliation...albeit at a slower rate.

I will deny any knowledge of this formula to my grave, do not quote me.

Please don't thank me...send cash. :p

Go car shopping with the wife and show her what it would cost if you made payments on any new vehicle. The used one you want will seem like a bargain.

My plan is to use my rental income to pay for it.
My wife knows about it now and says her name has to be on the title.
She wants to know what this car is worth compared to what I am paying. (can't tell ya)
She has also stated that before the first hint of the car in "our" yard, I have to sell both of my motorcycle's and two of my garden tractors - no problem.
I have NO time, OR desire to work on getting either bike road worthy again.
And one of the tractors is for parts for my sons tractor (he's five now, but he already wants daddy to build him a hotrod).
Can't do the other mentioned above if you brew/grow your own, but the extortion payments will have a cost of protection increase real soon (inflation - the cost of good hit help is going up)

It all depends on the bikes you have. I'd give up my wife before my bikes.

1978 Yamaha 650 and a 1978 Yamaha 650 special (dumped & slightly damaged).
I have had these since 1998 and 1995 respectively, only have title for the non special, got them cheap and will sell 'em cheap too, ANYONE INTERESTED?
Personally I'd rather give up the bikes for the car, if I really wanted a bike I would have put some time effort or money into them in this amount of time don'tcha think!
I even at one time considered using one of the 650 engines for a go cart.

Since she already knows.....you are pretty much screwed.
BUT!!!!here is what "we" can do...It will take all of your "Hotrodders Bulletin Board" buddies to pull it off.

I am just going to use $2500 for the price that you are willing to pay for the car from your buddy.
You will need to start by posting a question on this message board about what the car is worth just as you did here already. However, it can be rigged. "We" as your online-buddies (aka-accomplices) will post our replies that the car is worth-say $5500. That is an instant profit of $3000. "We can also say things like-(Hey, if you don't want it I am very interested) thinks like that. You can print out all of the replies and show them to her.

Reguardless of what you pay for the car, it will be worth more to you than the price that you had to pay.

It WILL work.
Lets get it rolling....

just make sure YOUR name and her name are on it, you know, in case of your untimely demise, it makes it easier for her ( and saves money ) since she is already on the title.... <img src="graemlins/evil.gif" border="0" alt="[evil]" />

Unhappy

I have just had a couple setbacks here and have had to give up the chance to buy the car at this time.
The wife and I suffered a tragic loss and will be changing many things around here this year.

I do have the chance to buy this car after next January if he is not in a great deal of a hurry to get rid of it, which his wife says he is not.

Like was mentioned before: What is this car worth anyway?
Cosmetically, needs a good wash & wax.
Mechanically, perfect but my only vice is the points distributor.

My wife an I looked at your message and my wife said to tell you to get rid of the death traps and buy the car. Your wife may feel the same about the bikes and be happy your selling them to get the car? My wife and I both ride but she tells me most wives don't like the bike's at all. Good luck my friend! I have collected to many project and my wife wants me to get down to 2 so we can ride bikes this summer and I can still have my cars but not as many as I have now. I am having a difficult time deciding what to sell and what to keep? 69 LeMans mine/hers, 37 Dodge Business coupe street rod, 53 Chevy 2dr sedan that Pro-street, 64 chevelle Pro-street, 65 chevelle Pro-street. Look for prices in the classified section once I have priced them.
