The location of the suspension connections is different between those cars. The only thing that will bolt into your car is another G body rear end. Someone else was asking questions about this same swap a few months ago. They were going to give it a try and come back with some information. I never heard from them again, so I guess it didn't go too well.

Unless its posi with gears I wouldn't bother trying myself.
If its performance you want the monte SS guys allways got posi and 3.73 center sections forsale on montecarloss.com or another tip is find an s-10 in the bone yard, allot of them came with 3.42 ring and pinions open rear ends. |

It is a posi unit from a 94 9c1 wih 3.42s. What would I have to alter to make it work? Use the links from the cutlass? Drill new holes in the frame? I can do al little cutting and welding if need be.

The rear end woudl need to be narrowed, the lower brackets would need to be cut off of the 7.5 and welded on the 8.5 in the correct location and angle. As for the upper controll arm eyes they might be the biggest problem. I have checked these and they are not in the right place. You can not cut them off and move them. You could modify the frame to make them work, but that's a big job.

It might make more sense to sell the 8.5" 9C1 rear and investigating an 8.8" Ford swap, supposed to be rather simple compared to using the 9C1 piece. Try www.maliburacing.com for info and links to this swap, it has become somewhat popular, it is a good strong rear.
