Wow, Thanks alot Mallory Ignition!!

Well check this out! the one picture is of them new ovbiously, and then you see my rotor. huge gap between it and the cap for sure...The engine is now down to the heads and is ready to be pulled out, got bored and took the dist cap off. Wow, the rotor tip looked kind of weird to me. Sure enough! its bent, and it looks like it came that way from Mallory as there are ZERO SCRATCHS so it was bent before or during the process of making it at their factory.

I bought this 81 malibu, has the original LQ4 305 in it. Rebuilt heads, engine possibly rebuilt too but has water in the oil, so the engine is half out.

It has the Mallory Distribitor and coil etc.... Well It did have a weird stumble, but did run good once warm. Just thought it was because of the water/oil issues and maybe needed a tune up.

Should I just bend it back? or try and return and replace it at the parts store...Im tempted to go try and return it for a new one for warrenty or whatever

A rotor is like $6 or something. Not worth fighting over really. Just go to autozone and get a new one. And dont try to fix it. It will just end up worse.

Well it just seemed very negative.

Whats wrong with getting a free part, even if it is 6 dollars. I laugh when I can take money from large corporations, ahah stealing from the rich, and giving to the poor..(me) haha

Anyways, I am sure if I bent it back, it would be fine, considering its copper. But sure is funny that the car ran well enough to put around and rev up quite nice...

Can't wait to use the distribitor in the new motor I pick up.

I had a mallory distributor and the mounting post for the advance weight broke and shoved the rotor up into the cap. It looked pretty cool. I ended up buying a different brand distributor after that.

Ummmm, yea i wasnt being rude, i was saying that its not worth fighting the store you bought it from over a $6 part. And its just one of those things that if you try to fix it, it will never be as good as a new one. Hot rodding isnt cheap, get used to it. If you dont have the cash you'll end up like me, forced to sell my 78 firebird after running out of money. It really sucks when that happens.

Actually, you're not supposed to have more than one account here. People have been banned for intentionally creating multiple accounts. You might want to talk to a moderator and they might be able to delete your extra account....
