my musings on the show

Caught the show for the first time this morning while getting ready to go to my shop (I own a Air Conditioning Co. here in Redding Ca.) After reading some of the posts and Jennifer's reply
I was particularly struck buy the clone thing that seemed to be a major bone struck in a lot of peoples craw. While watching this episode Barry repeatedly made mention of the upgrades to the Chevelle he was building all the while stating that the driveabilty and no doubt safety of this car was going to be greatly enhanced...if this be cloning well bring it on. Had the products been available in the 60-70's you can bet that they would have been OEM.
How many of you critics would put a big block in a 32 and still run with mechanical drum brakes.

Just my ever so humble opinion.

Norvin

Most of the objections people (including myself) had were the result of the producers of the show not passing on all the information. It seems it makes for better television if the viewers "think" its a real GTX or GTO or whatever up for auction. The fact is that none of the cars were auctioned as the "real thing". They were auctioned as SMC or Super Muscle Cars which is Barry's "thing". The producers just didn't bother to pass that little tid bit of information on to the viewers. The idea that these cars were being auctioned as something they really were not upset a lot of people, and probably didn't help Barry's reputation much either. I think Barry or his daughter addressed this with the producers because after the first season that practice seems to have mysteriously disappeared.
