the same old same old

You can say what you will, but Barry White is not a respectable guy if he can't getn his hands dirty instead of just *****ing and griping at everyone else because he wants things that are not easily possible. For example, the Tempest and GTO front end discrepancy. You want the impossible done ,you better be willing to sweat the details yourself.I mean look at this guy ,he makes those guys on Biker-buildoff and the like look good. They don't act in the manner he does and have the comments he does ,no matter the deadline.

re: Wrecks to Riches

I've seen Boyd in action and have never seen him behave in the manner that Barry does with the employees. But you do have a point with getting his hands dirty, but I have also seen him paint more than once.Plus I've met Boyd personally.

re: Wrecks to Riches

I believe Barry White is in a no-win situation taking on this Show, and he is probably thinking that any notoriety will help his Company. In the past I have read about his Builds (and have been impressed at the craftsmanship). There are a few clips of him working on the cars, but really guys, it appears to me that he has more going than one build. I think he is trying to manage an entire Company, not just one car. Is he abrasive? Yes. He does have deadlines in this Show, and apparently his Designer/Parts procurement guy took the job knowing what it entailed, not to mention they need some kind of storyline.

Quite honestly, I can be more of a Bear to work for than Barry White. There are a lot of challenges to running a business, and it appears to me that Barry isn't unnecessarily nasty if everyone's doing their job. I was impressed that he was holding his wife's hand when they were looking at cars in the junkyard.

Comparing Barry to Boyd is Apples and Oranges. I do like Boyd but he can be pushed around, almost shiftless at times. Barry just wants to meet deadlines-

As long as any of these shows exist I'm happy. A few months ago they stopped showing the Poweblock, American chopper, and Overhauling at the same time. Not sure about American hot rod...anyway, I would flip through every channel and turn off the TV...

That is what sucks about TV during the day, I couldnt get out of bed to do anything on the el camino, there was nothin on tv until about 3. I think I slept a total of 10 hrs plus what I slept last night lol. I wish they would show more car shows on TV during the day...

I agree!!! I am sick of being limited to NBA, Baseball and Sumo wrestling on cable. While these all have an audience I want car stuff and not just NASCAR!!! Give me hot rod stuff!!! I'll even listen to Don Gartlits (SP) again!!!

re: Wrecks to Riches

Watched a replay of the Satellite/RoadRunner/GTX episode last night and I'm more convinced than ever that Barry and company are out to fleece the public.

Throughout the show the emphasis was to turn a Satellite into a RoadRunner using parts from another car. It didn't take long for Barry's designer to suggest turning it into a GTX BECAUSE A GTX IS WORTH MORE THAN A ROADRUNNER. The problem is that what they wound up with and sold as a GTX was nothing more than a spruced up Satellite. That is FRAUD plain and simple. It's no different than passing off a Malibu as an SS Chevelle.

Although Barry's crew does some awesome work, I really have to wonder about their ethics.

re: Wrecks to Riches

people value the "custom super car" -or whatever they called it- more than the originals. Remember the fully restored original convertible roadrunner that passed the acution floor a few cars before Bary's. That could only rake in like 40k while the bary's custom car ended at considerably more.

No, he has Duayne for that. Jeez, what a ***** head he is.

One more thing, off topic though. Does anyone like the "In Yo Face, Juke Jive crap on the Musclecar show? Seems way out of place. Most, but not all, Musclecar fans are my age and don't connect with that style.
Seems they would steer their program style more toward middle agers?

Clones v Original v Muscle Car tv

I don't believe for a second Barry represents these cars as "original" and "authentic" cars with matching numbers, etc... The buyers know what they are getting.

If barry is in the business of ripping off the buyers and passing the cars off as original, do you think he would have a camera crew follow the build up for a weekly cable series?

Muscle Car tv
At first the "in your face" yelling at the camera was annoying. Just like all of the other car shows, they are trying to get the audience "excited" and their ratings up. I noticed they've toned that down a little lately.
You have to admit. Those two guys really know their stuff. That's the most informative car show on the air!

Muscle car TV (highjacked thread) back to Barry...

I agree, those guys are good. One to many cars projects per episode sometimes but very informative on how-to's. I learn more watching that show and Extreme 4x4 than any others.

Watched it Sunday when they went next door to Extreme 4x4 and borrowed Jesse's welding leathers and burned them up using a plasma cutter, she was none to happy about that. I doubt she'll let that slide.
Totally unscripted it looked like. Wonder how far the producers will let them go with revenge.

Back to Barry, I did notice he wasn't to happy loosing at Sema with the new Mustang, but the grill he made for it was awesome looking.

Barry's car was totally outclassed by all of the others. I think they knew they didn't have a chance when they were looking over the competition.
Barry's car was just too plain. Nothing fancy.

re: Wrecks to Riches

I seen nothing about the show that would be considered fraud, I watched the Satellite, Road Runner, GTX episode and it was repeatedly stated that they were building a Super Muscle Car based on a Satellite and Road Runner and that making it look like a GTX could bring more bucks.
