wrong rings

Hey guys,been lurkin a long time, this is my first post.
Been workin on a 400 sbc in a 280z .I recently bought some rings and when i got them, it had the wrong size oil rings...My question is...can i use 3.0 oil rings on a 3/16 piston? Ive searched ,and ...nothing.

In a word NO.. if the other rings are millimeter they won't fit correctly either.. depth and width

You can probably get it to run, but really think it'd run a lot better (and save a lot of work and such) to use the right piston rings.

See the link below... go to 'aftermarket' and you can find what part number will work for you. Also they have 'tech tips' which I refer to when breaking in a fresh engine. I figure they know more about ring seating than the lawyers who write owners manuals, and the conflicting input of folks (seems there's the 'baby it' crowd and the 'beat it' crowd) on internet forums such as this.
