WTH is this in the carb? Daily driver

Truck has been acting kind of funny,84 c-10 chevy, and I pulled the air cleaner to look around and found this inside the air cleaner. Anyone know what it is because I sure dont. I thought it was the charcoal from the charcoal canister but its not hooked up. The funny thing is it was on the INSIDE of the air cleaner, its a wix air cleaner. The engine has 24,000 miles on it since rebuild with new carb

In what way is your C-10 acting funny, to me it looks like gravel...has anyone gone underneath the hood without you knowing it? Gravel down the carb would make it act funny alright.

I once had a customer that was fighting with his woman. She did similar to his new motor Chevelle. Beach sand from lake Michigan..

I have never seen anything like that in my life, there is simply no explanation other than air cleaner top removed and something dumped there. I am trying to come up with some bizarre thing happening in the motor, it back fires and throws up some chucks of a piston.....NOPE, sorry, there is simply nothing that I can makeup that is as bizarre as this other than someone dumping a hand full (or two) of some crap in your carb.

I looked at it again and I am thinking it did suck some charcoal from the canister in the carb. I did not think it was hooked up but the tube in the photo is hooked to the charcoal canister

That does sound plausible, always better than an enemy!

I don't think it could be anything but charcoal.
