Looking for assistance regarding motor mounts/possible transmission and driveshaft parts required for this swap. Any and all assistance would be appreciated.

Crites doesn't list any parts to fit back of '55, but with all their Ford engine swap experience, I would call them anyway. They may have a line on someone who makes the pieces to do this swap.

Hey Crug. I really can't help with this . . . . but I just had to respond. This just sounds like a really, really nice project. Best of luck on this project going forward. I've gotta believe even if bolt-in stuff isn't available that some pretty basic welding would get you there. I've always had a love for these very rare and unusual cars.

When you pull the engine tranny from the donor get the ecu and wiring harness being careful not to trash any of it. ford performance is your buddy on that swap as they have the stand alone ecu and wiring if you need it.. Been a long time since I have been under one of those so I forget the engine mounts on a Y-block but then speedway has the universal mounts for the 302 as the 302 mounts at the center of the block..that will requre a bit of welding and fab work..the trans crossmember may require a bit of modification to accept the new trans mount..as far as the drive shaft get the yoke for the new trans from the donor and bite it and have a drive shaft made up..Sometimes the old shaft may work but I would never count on it..this makes a nice swap and a good reliable cruiser at the end of the day.

Y block 302 conversion

Thanks for the heads up Pat. I did save the wiring harness etc from the donor vehicle. I have heard 77 Ford truck motor mounts, an available trans mount and the drive shaft from an 86 crown Victoria with some type of u-joint conversation is the answer. The problem is no one seems to have a correct description of the trans and u-joint required so hopefully someone out there with the answer will respond.

Pete

Actually this is an EZ swap and can be done with over the counter parts,I moderate the 1952-56 Ford social group on the HAMB and have helped quite a few with this swap, you can use the '77 F150 mounts or these available at Autozone or O'Reillys part # ANCHOR 2725(L) ANCHOR 2726(R) for the transmission use a Energy Suspension 4-1104G(they can order at both stores) for a C-4 or AOD it will bolt to the stock 54-56 crossmember.Exhaust clearance is tight,I used a mini-starter from D-B Electrical ($50)I have pictures on file of the swap if you can provide me with an email address.Picture is the 302 in my '54 Customline.2nd pic is AOD on stock crossmember.Pic#3 shows clearance with mini-starter.The drive shaft is a '86 Crown Vic with a NEAPCO 2-0291 conversion joint to bolt up to the stock rear.
