Yellowed Lenses
I can never find anything in the archives, but tried...
Anyway, anyone know of an easy way to remove the yellowing from old lenses? Buffing it maybe? The lens on my license plate light has taken on a yellow tint. |

If they are glass, any metal polish (Mother's Mag polish, Wenol, etc.), a terry cloth rag and a little elbow grease will do the deed in short order. If they are plastic, I'm afraid you will need to be happy with that 'vintage' look or find a reproduction white lens. Can't get the yellow out of aged clear plastic.

There are also slick license frames that have been out for a few years. They have a light built into the top of the frame. Hook it up to the factory wire, ground it, and voila new light. I have had good luck polishing most lenses with regular paint compound, and then follow it with a polish. It's like the yellowed headlight lenses, keep them polished an/or waxed, and they will not do it to begin with.,,,,RR
