yep, if we only knew.

Back around 1985 I bought a belly tank body for about a hundred bucks. It was from an old car and had a white and red scallop paint job. It had the cut outs for three flathead exhaust on each side....it was very cool up on the edge of a wall in my shop. I sold it in Hemmings a few years later, I think for about $300 as I remember.

My brother just got back from a swap meet where he saw one go for $15,000, we are talking JUST the body!

Great, just great, thanks for the update bro.

Brian

Yep,
Back in the late 70s, one of my toys was a nice 69 GTX, 4-spd car.
Fun as all get out, but a real rattle trap.
Sold it for around $800
Doubt it still exists, but if it does, no telling what it is worth.

My main HS (class of '75) car was a '64 Jag E Type convert. Bought it for $500.00 and did a full restoration on it... before patch panels were available. A lot of metal work and lots of bondo but I won a few local shows so it came out OK I guess. Sold it in '79 for $8,700.00 and made a killing, or so I thought. They're up to $50,000.00+. That is one car I wish I hadn't sold, even with the Lucas elec. problems.

Before all the cruse nights. I bought a 1935 Ford 3 window coupe for $1500.
This car had no rust or dents. It had been off the frame. The frame had been painted. New rebuilt 53 flathead and all the parts to put it together.
I sold it for $3000 great! I made $1500. Then I looked in Hemmings.
I Should have looked first. $15000 to $18000 Oh well

Not only did the guy get the car for nothing, he was paid to haul it away.

Yep

Yep, Had we known, we could have hoarded some of the good stuff. The way I see it in retrospect, I could have bought a older warehouse or property w/a big storage building with notes payed toward retirement. Then hoarded up on alot of high performance stuff and started selling it now for a hell of alot more than what my retirement fund is now. Dammit boy.

I think the one car I owned, that I never would have dreamed would have escalated in value is one just like this, same color w/340 4speed. Sold it with a blown engine for $500 in 1978. When I see what they are selling for it makes me feel like I lost a lottery ticket.
