Yet another 3970010 casting number question.
What I have is a block with the 3970010 casting number the date on it is D299 and the ID number is V0527XI. From what I've read the casting suggests it could be a 302, 327 or a 350. The XI suffix on the id says its a 350 with a 2 bolt main. What I have is a 4 bolt main with a cast 327 crank in it. Has anyone seen or heard of anything like this? I realize someone could have put a 327 crank in it but the 4 bolt is factory.

XI 69 350 Truck 215 Base Manual 2-Brl
My other records on the XI code show the same thing. But I have no record that indicated if it were a 2 or 4 bolt block. 4 bolt block in a truck was fairly common fold. I`ve gotten many 350`s out of 70`s trucks that had 2 barrel carbs and 4 bolt blocks. Everything matches, the date code of D299 indicates April 29th 1969 goes hand in hand with the suffix code. So it`s likely it came with 4 bolt main caps and someone threw a 327 shaft in it.
