Post You can't imagine what just happened to me...

At 6:00PM my time I was turning left at a turn light controlled intersection when I was struck by one of Winnipegs lowest...that's right a full on black and white cruiser. He hit me at approx. 20 kms/hr and pushed my car 3 or 4 feet, he just clipped the right rear corner of my car enough to scuff and crack the bumper paint.

And to add insult to injury this POS gets out of the car denying he did anything wrong and is saying I was in the intersection when he had the green light. Not only did he blame me but completely lied to the sargeant that took his and my statement. When I explained the situation to the sargeant and we observed the light timings at the scene it became obvious to me what happened.

The turn light at this intersection lasts for maybe 5-7 seconds and I followed a single half ton into the intersection when I seen him coming at 60 km/hr, the truck in front of me did not hesitate off the light and I was right behind him by about 3 feet. I seen the whole thing happening and it was his fault for anticipating the light and not slowing down, the car stopped and waiting in the lane next to him had not even crossed into the intersection yet to turn. He did not attempt to hit the brakes until he was almost on top of me, all I could do was watch it happen. The truck in front of me prevented me from dropping the Yamahammer to get out of his way.

You know I could understand if he had his cherries lit but he was just careless and now I wonder who is going to get the benefit of the doubt in court, me driving a SHO or the innocent cop doing his duty. I am just sick over the whole thing especially when he bold face lied right to my face. When I asked him if he had a camera in the car so we could compare stories he said he didn't need a camera because I was in the wrong! He then admitted there is no camera in his car!

If I get nailed with being at fault in this I am going straight to the top with this one. What a freakin scumbag. Anyone who says cops are honourable in Winnipeg needs to have a closer look.

Beware of a crooked city police officer with the badge number of 1834 in Winnipeg Manitoba. He's liable to do just about anything if he can lie to his superiors like I just witnessed with a straight face. Stay tuned, this is not over by a long shot.

There are darn near as many bad cops as ther are bad citizens - it sounds like you found yourself one of those BAD COPS.

Your story reminds me of when my father-in-law had to go to court after being in the middle of a three car pile up. His rig was the one in the middle and a traffic cop took up the tail end of the crash. The old man rearended a truck after the cop rearended him. The guy in the plumbing van sued, so the cop tried to wiggle out of his fair share of responsibility, by stating that the old man's brake lights didn’t work. The bad thing about all this was, the cop hit the oldman hard enough to crash all the evidence. The cop seized the broken tail lights off JR's rig and hired an expert witness to testify that the filaments in the broken bulbs were sagging indicating they were burnt before they were broken in the crash.. I testifyed, that both his brake lights were working when he left my house an hour earlier.

The judge didn't buy the cop's story and chastized him for following too close… Mister Officer went for the door with his tail tucked between his legs.

Shortly after that, JR said he'd seen this same cop cruising his his avenue almost on a daily basis. We emailed the Head Honcho from his computer, explaining this strange coincidence, and he hasn't seen the "filament" cop since. He's probably at one of the local wrecking yards, as I speak, digging through the old tail lights for a refresher course.

Witnesses are a GOOD thing

You know the worst thing is as soon as I realize that he hit me and I get out of the car, I see every car around me suddenly vacate the premises as fast as possible. The truck in front of me slowed down to look then left...Thanks for nothin. It's OK I have had to prove my case in court before and a simple video of the lighting system from both directions will show who is at fault. In this type of case the magistrate usually goes with the reasoning that he who had the last chance to avoid the accident is at fault, he hit me. I also think that with the rate of speed he closed in on me he didn't see me at all and may actually have been accelerating.

The sun was going down and this car is painted "Opal Frost" which if you ask me is a candy silver/blue and if you check out my profile you'll see it looks just like the horizon or a grey road at a distance. This car has a history of being hit like this believe it or not, when my Dad drove it off the lot back in 98 he was hit leaving the dealership parking lot in the rear after just signing the papers. Another person who didn't see the car.

I have never had a problem in my refridgerator white Jetta but I did seem to have a similar incident with my light blue RX7, another car that blended into the background on the road. I think his rate of speed, plus his "timing of the light" and the fact that I had a turning arrow is evidence enough.

You know the thing that kills me is he couldn't be a man about it and admit he was at fault, no...the first thing he does is act like the hundreds of suspects he has probably interviewed and claim I am the one at fault and he did nothing wrong and then deny's the plausibility of video proving the truth.

Hey Chuck;

Did U really think the police were honest? Did that government uniform fool U? If U think some almighty magistrate (and they are gods in Canada) is going to let U call his official paid thug a liar, man, R U in 4 a surprise!

I wish U the best of luck, but cops lawyers, crown attorneys, magistrates, and politicians all feed at the same trough in this country.

Good luck, kitkar

I have had good luck in the past with not one judgement going against me as long as my eggs were in a row and I was truly not at fault...however seeing as it was a police officer it will be interesting. I even once pleaded a license violation (switched plates on a car to fill it up with fuel) and the tickets were removed since the law had changed a couple years earlier.

Sometimes you get lucky.

Looks like time to bring out the projector for the Powerpoint presentation and video eqiuipment to prove my point. Sometimes the fact I went out of my way to prove my point in court has won me a few cases.

I like playing lawyer every so often if I am right! :p

Cops look out for each other everywhere. The brotherhood won't allow them to turn on each other for most of their buddies indiscretion's. GOOD LUCK and God bless, you'll need all the help you can get.

I forgot to mention that on the drive home from the scene of the accident (less than a kilometer from my house) I passed two unmarked cars on back roads doing radar duty directly on the only route I could go. Luckily Chucky was vigilant and restrained the right foot. I wonder what the point of that was?

He he, you have to get up pretty early in the morning to fool ol Chucky. I was expecting something like that when I counted the number of cruisers that stopped by in the time I spent giving my statement. I counted 5 cars that hovered in the vicinity and another 5 that actually stopped and asked the Constable driver how he was. Being under a magnifying glass is the only way I can describe the situation.

Good thing they never checked the trunk and found the 50 kgs of cocaine I was transporting. :p

Joking...really?!
