Ok guys I appreciate all the help with my engine its time to put you guys to the test again:P Is there a way to tell what kind of lifters are in a car I need to adjust mine i believe. I got a fire in the carb the first time i stared it up but it didnt backfire as i turned it off i looked up and there was a fire....so i grabbed some dogs...kidding Just a samll one though
Question NO2 is there a way to relocate my oil dipstick now it hits my brake booster and i cant get it in:thumbup:

I'll take a guess here and say you drive some kind of Mopar with a 340 engine? If that is true and the heads are OEM type heads, the lifters are not adjustable. The rail that holds all the rockers is all there is. If they are noisey, you may need to replace them. If you have any head work done, make sure they set the valve stem length correctly, especially if any milling is done to the block or heads.
Dipstick? Bent it, twist it, or shorten it?

Sorry Jmark I was so excited my car was running (with the help ov you guys) i forgot the most important stuff:spank: Ive got a 68 327 in a 76 vette just recently rebuilt so i couldent take a guess on the lifter type ...I just thought there was an easy answer

If the dipstick is hitting the brake booster - it ain't a MoPar. 273/318/340/360's dipsticks are at the front of the engine. 350/361/383/4oo/413/426/440 are on the drivers side of the engine between the first and second cylinder.

Take a look at the Lokar dip sticks. I have one in my car and it is very short, it will clear. The bad part is you better check your oil before you start the car cause you have to reach between the header tubes to get to it. I use welding gloves if I need to check it once the engine is hot.
