your opinion please
I am upgrading my '48 Fleetline which is my first attempt at restoration of an old car. I was looking at a Husky HVLP gravity feed paint spray gun at Home Depot and would like to have some opinions if it is a good buy at $80. It has stainless steel fluid needle and nozzle. I have a 26 gal. 5.5 HP compressor to operate it. I will be lifting the body off the chassis next week or maybe the week after the new year. Any tips are welcome .... Chassis paint, body conditioning or what????

What is a good durable paint for the finish? This is going to be a driver so I do not need show quality, just good quality.

Thanks, Al 12-21-2004 07:50 AM

Look here.

I have this one and love it.

IMHO the best paint for frame, body, and engine is catalyzed urethane base coat/clear coat. Nothing else comes close as far as durability, looks, and overall quality job.

As far as metal prep, painting technique, etc., etc., do a search on the board. These topics have been done in incredible depth over the years.

In that price range, the FineX 300 is a pretty good gun and supported by Sharpe, an old-line company.

I've been using the Husky from HD for about 2 years now. I love it. Just had to get used to going from a standard siphen gun to a gravity HVLP. Play with it for awhile and u will like it.
