Well I ordered the Iwata yesterday. It will be a couple weeks before i do my first job. Between now and then i guess I will be shooting a few practice panels. Thanx everybody for your input

starting set up

fan 2 turns in from wide open
fluid 3-3.5 turns out
air pressure 18-20 for base 20 -25 for clear

adjust from there. good luck with it

Good starting point tho I use the recommended 16 pounds with a full fan. And like shine basically said, learn what works FOR YOU and your painting speed. You close in the fan to paint a small area. I got down to silver dollar width at 10-12 pounds at the gun

For practice, my local shop gave me a 'mistake' pint of DuPont ChromaBase - fugly blue - then I had "fun".

The local shop sells mistake paint and I believe that is what Ill do.

What a cool gun. I painted a motorcycle frame today. Runs were not a problem. I ran into dry spots on some of the tubing from overspray of the other side tubing. I had that problem with the siphon gun as well. Another thing that made it more difficult was having the paint container on top. I had a hard time maneuvering in and out of the tubes. I love the fact that there is no giant paint cloud of overspray. Much learning ahead
