z24 cavi

Hey im just curious about the cavi z24 some kid in my town has one and he says its so fast. He only has a intake,superchip and after market(ricer) exhaust. What makes the 4 cylinder engine so fast and is his car really as fast as he says.

what other cars has he driven to know what fast is?

A stock Cavalier like my monster-in law has is 115 hp and they don't have overhead valves like a high-quality import 4 banger might have. You said it's a Z-24, and if it's a four it must be an older one because I thought they come with v-6 power now.

If it's an older Z it might be a quadlike-4 and they were like 150 horse stock, pretty stout for a small car with 4 cylinders. With some tweaking it could be making 180 or better and that would be pretty spirited. It won't spank a late model Z/28 but it would humiliate plenty of 305 powered slugs and maybe a 5.0 stang if he's a little sleepy.

There are some brutally quick 4 bangers out there but most of them are imports. I think Saab has a turbo 4 that's cranking 300 horse and Mitusubishi has a pretty quick sedan that goes 0-60 in the 5's, it's a four also.
