Part 5: Tail Gate
Jim Weimer

Here is what I decided to do on the tail gate. I ordered a rollpan and tail gate skin from the same company that I ordered my tail light parts from. Again, poor quality and fitment.

Originally, I was going to keep the tail gate functional, so I ordered a tail gate skin and handle relocator to move the handle to the inside of the gate. But, when I got the tail gate skin it was too large to keep the tail gate functional, so I decided to keep up with the theme of smoothing everything out, and welded the skin to the tail gate and welded the gate to the bed sides and rollpan.

I still had to do a lot of trimming to get everything to line up and fit right. It was a pretty straightforward deal though. I got my bodywork done and in primer for now.

As soon as all of the bodywork is finished, I will move on to paint, again something else that I am going to have to learn to do on my own.
