Part 5: Chassis and Powertrain
Gary Bond

While all this bodywork was going on I was also modifying the chassis. I added the Mustang II front suspension from a junked car and rebuilt all the components. This included the power rack and pinion and disc brakes. Many books were researched on the subject and articles from magazines were studied. I reworked the back frame rails with 2x4 channel and installed an 8" Maverick Grabber rear end.

I found a van with a 350 four-bolt main and proceeded to rebuild. Slight bore and mild cam makes it a fun cruiser -- we have had it in five states going to shows! The TH400 transmission works well and it smokes the tires with ease!
