Part 6: Engine Installation
Everett Gross

Now get this guys/gals: this is the engine I got -- it's from a 1980 Chevy truck. My little wifey bought the power plant for me. How many of your ladies have done that for you? I just may keep her for another 25 years. What a sweetheart!

I clean up the engine and tranny and decide I want this powerplant to stick out when you see it so I use Hot Rod Green. You can't miss that engine when you see it!

Engine work is not my strong point so I leave it basically stock. I'm not going to race it. I want a cruiser we can travel around in once the kids are grown up and gone. By the way, the kids do help me a little when I'm working on the car. At this point in time they range from 12 to 21 years of age. All still at home.

Got the headers installed and bought some other parts at Springfield Cars and Parts Swap Meet. It's coming along, isn't it? Spent most of the summer looking for a gas tank and finally settled on a poly one from Mike's Street Rods in Shelbyville, Tennessee.

I also got the rest of the drive train and suspension installed. Now it's time to start on the body.
