Part 14: Engine Compartment
trees

Here is the left side of a full engine compartment. The Ram Air box is in and the low budget dryer hose is the only thing flexible to snake between the motor and frame. I had to build a shroud over the power steering pulley and serpentine belt to prevent it from rubbing. Considering all the EFI wiring, it all packaged together very well. The Crossfire distributor makes for a much cleaner plug wire arrangement. The plug wires are managed with Pertronix wire looms, stubbed on the valve cover center bolts.

The other side of the engine compartment is not any less cluttered. Fitting all the heat and air lines was a test in patience and the snorkel tube was just as crowded, but did not require a shroud for belt/pulley interference. You can get a feel of how tight the big electric fan is. It is a spiral blade that moves 2700 CFM. I seldom turn it on, only in traffic and with the air on. I normally do not put any polished parts under the hood, but I wanted the non-leaking cast center bolt valve covers -- so now I have to polish the @#!% things on occasion!
