Part 2: Front Suspension
zonk

After some conversations with other people, I decided on using a S-10 clip, a friend had a stripped frame bought for $50. I have never put in a front clip before, I had a very good friend help who has built quite a few streetrods with clips.

This how we did it. The rearend was still in the original position, and we welded some bracing in the frame before we cut the old clip out. The wheelbase is 116 inches -- we took a long piece of conduit, and cut it to 116 inches, then welded some long nails and made sure the tips were at 116 inches. We then blocked the car up to where we thought the ride height should be, cut out the old clip, rolled the S-10 clip close to position and trimmed where we felt the frame and clip would meet the best. Then, we took the conduit, placed one of the nail tips into the center of the rear end, the other to the center of the S-10 wheel hubs, to make sure the wheels are straight and clamped in place. Then, we did diagonal measurements from a spot on the frame to spots on the clip. Then, we adjusted till every side came out the same measurement. Measure 100 times if you have to -- once we felt good, we slowly welded together, then 3/16 plate again over welds, and welded again.
