Part 22: Air Bag Install
1950bulletnose

The rest of the air ride system has arrived. I finished welding the upper brackets for the front Shockwave. (NOTE: when mounting the Shockwave 1000 air bag upside down, stainless steel air lines must be used to eliminate line chaffing.) Bar stock for the lower control arm bolts was put through the crossmember and welded in place. The bar stock will be gusseted behind the crossmember, which is a strength and safety requirement for strutless control arms. The bracket welded to the frame and bolted on the rear of the control arm is an afterthought for additional strength and safety, it is NOT a requirement.

With the body on, I couldn't get the ride height I wanted with the wheels and tires I had. I was going to wait till the project was nearing the end before purchasing some decent wheels. I splurged and bought a set of American Eagle 18x8's for the rear and 17x8's for the front.
