I have a 30 desoto that i would like to add disk brakes (badly needed). There were spindles,rotors etc from an amc that came with the car. these spindles attach by bolting on, however, the holes dont line up. I was thinking of fabricatin a adapter plate that would bolt to the axle and spindles and maybe lower the spindles a couple of inches. anyone done this before. existing spindles would be cut off so there is no going back if there are problems. thanks for your help.

Your case is not an easy one to address. Hard to tell if the '30 DeSoto already had this front suspension installed or you just received the parts in a box along with the '30? Anyway, have you considered going with a crossmember kit or full IFS (independent front suspension) like those sold under the guise of Mustang II?

Seems that would be a cleaner and safer solution.

I was under the impression that a mustang 11 would not work because of the fenders on the desoto mount to the top of the frame rails and the mustang upper arms also utilize this space. anyway thats what I was told. Bud

I am sure there is a fix for your situation out there, just keep looking. Unless you are trying to do an original restoration and not customizing or rodding, then the M-II is not what you want and you should do a full resto back to original brake system, and suspension. Good Hunting!

I just emailed them I hope they can help. The Fat Man makes an IFS that looks like it might work, but from what I have read here, there products may be questionable. Bud
