I want to put a sub-frame on a 51' chevy 1/2 ton p/u, and I have no idea what would work or how to do it. I dont know if it matters or not but I want to put air bags on it. I was allso wandering what kind of rear suspension I could put on it, I would like to airbag this too.

Best to think up a budget first.Now decide what you want the truck to do for you. Tow anything? Just a driver? Or will it be a sailboat fuel hauler? Lots of diff directions.Is ride important? Or do you want the fair grounds ground scraper?? I would start with a crossmemeber kit and work from there. The frontend is the most important part of any project. Sub frames really were the "only" game in town a few years back.It really rare to see one done properly though. For every successfull one you see i will show you 10 that never will see the street cause they have ruined a project installing one. Tell us some more of what you need from the truck. I run one right now with a stock axle moved around a litle with the front bumber draggin the ground(lower than most clips)ride is good drives straight as and arrow.Is it worth doing...nope just had to show guys diff options.Hey that Peter built that went buy you at 85 mph had the samestyle frontend your old truck does. I think what i am saying figure your budget out first... now add about 1/3 to it.(you know how we get carried away)

The cars frontend unbolts completely. You can buy a complete bolt in frontend but i really dont think they are worth the extra cash as i think it should be welded any way. You can do a few things with the stock frontend and make it drive pretty well. There are disc brake kits and upgrade the shocks if your on a budget. Did some one try to put a clip on it??

yes, it has already been clipped with a camaro front clip. and it has a nova rear axle assy in the rear on stock springs. thats what i'm worried about as i'm not sure as to where the real centerline is. HELP!!!!!!
