im going to put a chevelle frame on a 40 plymouth coupe. the wheelbases are a inch different. the track is close also. ive seen plymouth cars with this frame on them. has anyone done this? or something close to this? could i email you with questions? any and all responses are appreciated. thanks

myself i wouldn't worry if the wheelbases are out only an inch. I think you could position the body on the frame and make it look ok. 1/2" either way shouldn't make that much difference.

You can adjust your track width with wheels that are backspaced properly.

I have put a 69 camaro subframe into my F-1 pickup and would be happy to coach you with what I learned. I have a question however, why not use a Volare torsion setup and retain the chrysler power? Maybe you want the chevy as I did.

Mostly it is 90% planning and measuring and 10% execution. Just remember that your ride height is determined by where you clip and weld. Set it up so that with stock springs your ride height is where you want it and the wheels are set within the fender wells. The clip will already provide motor mounts and steering. Be sure you have enough clearance between your firewall and the back part of the engine. You will probably have to do some massaging of the sheet metal on the sides. If you can tack weld it in place and then lower your engine into place to check for clearances, this is usually a good thing to do. Measure it very carefully. There is no reversing this once welded.

I understood that he was going to replace the whole frame. If so you will have to make body mounts, and could possibly have to alter the floor some. Like I said before track width can be adjusted with wheels back spaced to fit. The one inch difference in wheel base should not be a problem.

thanks guys for your input. i have decided to use a whole frame. i will need to make new body mounts but i think for a novice like me it will be easier in the long run. i gladly accept all advice no matter how small
