Hello everyone,

I have a 62' Buick Special that I would like to modernize the 4-wheel drum brakes to disc-drum or disc-disc. It currently has 4-lug non-self adjusting drums. This vehicle is a unibody and the entire front suspension is held in with 3 large bolts. This seems like a perfect car for the aftermarket to make a bolt-in replacement for, but I cannot find any. So, if anybody has an idea of what disc brake spindles will interchange or a kit made by someone, PLEASE HELP, because this thing is dangerous to drive in today's traffic. I would also like to change the stock rear-end since parts are hard to find and expensive when I do and the front end will eventually have five lugs.

Thanks Dave, you are right about mpbrakes, but for $1000 or so, I was hoping to find a donor car with all the parts not just having a bracket welded onto my stock spindles. Plus this does not address the 4-lug drum brakes in the rear. Also, parts for this rare car are getting very hard to find and extremely expensive so I would like to upgrade to parts I can actually buy at the local parts store.

MP will sell you the basic kit, which will be bolt on brackets, and possibly sleeves for your spindles for bearing to fit. They will give you year and part numbers for rotors, calipers, master cyl. pads, and any thing else you need. That way you can use parts from a doner car. I've done this a couple times, came out cheap. Master Power is one of the best co. I have done bus. with. They don't mind answering your questions, and I've had quite a few. Jack

I have the brackets to convert the rear to disc. I think I have the stuff to convert the front also

Lou that sounds great about the front disc brakes, could you be more specific. As for converting the rear, the last time I bought an axle bearing, I couldn't even get two of them to do both sides at the same time. So I think I will just change the entire rear-end, besides I want to get away from the 4-lug bolt pattern and use something more modern.
