Greetings,
I am looking for any information on what make/model of GM vehicle could be used for converting front brakes to disc. Any info would be much appreciated. Also was considering how much work it would be to convert to power steering. Thanks |

I would call Master Power Brakes and ask them what they sell to do it. This may provide a clue as to what donor cars may do the trick. It is going to be tough in any event because the donor cars are going to be scarce.
I solved my problem on a 67 Camaro suspension by going to the library and finding a parts interchange book for that year. The stock disc brakes spindle, rotor and calipers each had a number which I search with to find other cars and other years which were the same. I finally found that 67-69 camaro and medium sized cars all had the same discs available, usually as an option. This gave me many cars as possible donors and I searched until I found one. Master Power Brakes would have done if for $1000, it cost me time in the library and $50. Also get on car nut websites and ask if anyone is willing to sell you the parts you need. |

re: 1958 Chevy drum-disc conversion
I have a 57 chevy and used rotors and calipers from camaro, chevelle and used stock spindles on the 57. Check on classic perform and they give you the exact ones to use. I did this about ten years ago and really helped this boat to stop. Good luck

re: 1958 Chevy drum-disc conversion
I used a kit for the brackets and adapter sleeves that I bought from Pioneer Classics in Phoenix, AZ. The rotors and calipers from a '74 Nova worked fine, but even the smaller GM products like the early '80s Cutlass make good donors. I love the stopping power, (I added a firewall mounted power brake setup as well.)
