I need to know what to look for in a donor car. Since the '48 Fleetline has a strong front suspension built into it, would it be a good idea to keep what I have and rebuild it? If so What donor car should I look for to add power steering and power brakes. I had thought of putting a Mustang ll Ifs in but the price of a swap of this magnatude is cost prohibitive. One more question, I orriginally wanted to keek the car with all original equipment but like I stated above, I want to add power brakes, power steering, air conditioning and a few other creature comforts. What is the best in-line six cylinder engine that is strong enough to handle the extras. No way my 216 can handle it even with a rebuild, ......uh..is there? Al

To begin with I wouldn't go looking for a donor car to supply parts for rebuilding your suspension. Contact <a href="http://www.butchsrodshop.com" target="_blank">Butch's Rod Shop</a>for suspension rebuild parts. When it comes to adding power steering they can probably help you too. Disk brakes can easily be handled by one of <a href="http://www.speedwaymotors.com" target="_blank">Speedway Motors</a>kits for the early Chevy spindles. When you get all done you will have spent as much or more than a Mustang II kit though.

i bought a mustang2 IFS srom a mustang2 salvage yard and payed 300 USD fo rthe whole thing, spindles, crossmember, controllarms, power rack and piniom... the works so with regards to the cost the trick is just not to go to any hot rod companies, they will skinn you alive and charge you extra for inconvenience.
