Iam getting my Mustang II IFS in on Friday. I odered one from TCI. I have a Miilermatic 175 Mig welder and have been doing a lot of welding to get practice. I feel pretty confidant in welding in the IFS myself. Iam using CO2 as my shelding gas cause I have it. Use CO2 on my Coke machine at my restuarant. My question is is bigger size wire better? Which size is the best to use? Iam putting this on a 1949 Chevy truck. Thanks!

Maverick,
i just bought a new welder also but i don't have very much practice. But, i was going to mention that i think you should use flux-cored wire. i'm not sure about your machine, but on mine i can weld heavier gauge steel if i use flux-cored wire and reverse the polarity on the gun. JB |

I just finished welding a Hieght's MII in my 51, I used .030 solid wire and 25/75 argon co2. I am a novice also but all my welds looked pretty good with this set up. Call your local welding supply they will answer your ?? if you have the bottle the gas is dirt cheap! Good luck DK
