"I have this friend" (I really do!) that has a 40 Ford Delivery (Not car--a truck) He wants to put the body on a newer frame. He was saying a Ford Ranger setup will work and he wants to use the V-6 and drive line from the ranger, I am suspicious so I though someone here would know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I saw a 40 ford TRUCK on a 86 ranger frame and it was a good fit. It had the 2.8 v6 engine.

As a long time owner of many 40's[unfortunatly never a Sedan Delivery], two from the ground up, I have to comment on this deal.I also have seen a couple of 40s on ranger frames, less than great if you ask me. I did see a 40 cpe on a toyota pickup frame that was a great fit, but not without effort.Does your friend not have the original frame ? If its not junk, its the best to use, in my useless opinion.To my eyes, the way the wheels fit the fender openings is real important. I think this is hard to accomplish with another frame.To each his own, thats just my two cents worth.

Don't quite understand the rationale for such a swap. The ranger suspension and v-6 aren't exactly what most people think of as prime street rod material. Might as well grab the family lawn tractor and throw in the 10 horse briggs and stratton. Don't waste that prime rod material on such a dog. Its too easy to throw on a nova front clip or a mustang II on these old fords and drop in a small block. Actually, my guess its much less work than doing the ford ranger thing. But, if thats what you want, do it right. Just dont plan on getting a lot of respect on cruise night with such a rig.

Thanks for the info guys, I would do it the nova clip way myself, but this guy is different and says this is going to be easier on him. As a friend I will lend him a hand and we'll see when it's done. Thanks again,,, Robb
