My father and I are working on a '67 Delta 88, the frame is beyond repair and we are looking for a possible donor vehicle that requires the least amount of surgery.I am hoping a late '70s olds(full size)will work. This way we would gain disks on the front also. Any help would be appreciated

This one's got me scratching my old gray head. I believe the frames in the 67-68-69 Buicks-Olds and Pontiacs were all pretty much the same.Maybe.I repeat maybe even the Chevy's were too. Convertibles and wagons might be a bit different.Perhaps even stronger than the rest. Just be sure to check the wheelbase measurements. Hope this helps out.

re: possible frame donors for '67 delta 88
It is my understanding (take that for what it is worth!) that the GM B-Body platform didn't change a whole lot from when it was introduced in the early-mid 60s until it was discontinued in the mid 90s. They did change the wheelbase a few times (most significantly in 77 when they downsized the fleet) so maybe a good place to start would be check out track width and wheelbase online, use that to make an educated guess as to what might work, then see if any local junkyards have possible donor cars. Jack one up and compare it to yours. My guess is any B-body (Delta, LeSabre, Parissiane, Caprice) will work, but you'd be better off staying Olds to avoid any conflict with motor mounts, etc.
Oh, and as far as the disk brake thing goes, it is my (admittedly vague) understanding that most of the suspension parts are directly interchangeable. Even if your donor vehicle for the frame doesn't have disks, you might be able to just go to a junkyard, pull the bits and pieces off a 70s-80s Delta and bolt it on yours. |

Jon,
Check the date of the thread you replied to, it is almost a antique. |
