Hi guys,I have a 47 chevy sedan delivery I traded for.I know this subject has been hashed over before.I'm not new to streetrodding this is my 3rd project.The frame been stubbed once,the guy missed by 2 inches and way to wide.I looked back in the forum someone by premierpaintbody talked about this in May 2002,I was wondering has anyone done this? I've thought about restubbing,maybe using a S-10 stub that way keeping the body mounts,also looking for another frame and starting over maybe with a mustang 2.Right know going to start body work,research frame idea.I know using S-10 will have to shorten frame also rework body mounts.Thanks for thoughts.

Usually I'm the first guy to try to talk someone out of doing a clip, however there are cases where it just makes sense to do one. Yours is just one of those cases.

You didn't say what clip the previous owner butchered the frame with but as long as you still have some good metal to weld to you should be in good shape.

WRONG AGAIN ! ! Bill

The sedan delivery uses a passenger car style frame. His is not a truck type (panel). A GMC pickup frame is not the same as his.

It is a mistake that is done often

As a former sedan delivery owner.... 1957 Chevrolet...... the easy way to keep them straight is panels have two rear doors and a truck front sheet metal. Sedan delivery has 1 rear door and car front sheet metal.

You're correct, I missed that detail. However, if you're keeping score keep it correctly. It's 1 to 1. I was wrong on this one, but you were wrong on the Mustang II issue. Yea I know, your score card shows it differently.

Thanks Centerline and Duece,the frame is pretty good shape all and all.The clip I was told he tried to use some type of Cadillac?. Anyway I'm leaning towards a different clip to keep costs down, probably go to Chassis Eng. rear springs set up,I have a early Bronco 9inch laying around,I know the sedan delivery is a car frame,my sister got me a book for x-mas has alot of cars listed and wheel bases to compare it to 46,47,48 116inch wheel base,for instance so is a 1968,69 cheville 4 door.Anyway got a start.

I haven't measured the width of a S-10 front yet,can a person go to narrow for a front clip? Just a question.

Don't know about the s10 clip but am familiar with the camaro/nova. one thing to be aware of is if you get a front steer the steering box will be in the way of the radiator core suport if you keep it in the stock location. go to the rear steer nova and that will not be a problem. Other than that its a nice clip mod...GlennK

There are companies who make a front frame/crossmember that accepts Pinto/Mustang II suspension. There are a lot of incorrectly installed clips out in Hot Rod land and these NEW front frames/crossmembers are made for people who want to fix their frames.

I have also seen a lot of happy clip owners. Properly done with the correct clip for that application, they work good.

I suggest really looking at the rest of the work done to the delivery.....it may very well be done with the same level of compentance as the front clip. <img src="graemlins/sweat.gif" border="0" alt="[sweat]" /> <img src="graemlins/sweat.gif" border="0" alt="[sweat]" />

Hi guys,the rest of the frame seems to be untouch still has original rear springs the guy tried to use some truck rearend,3inch lowering blocks(ouch)
the most part it is good and solid,I know nova clip will work might the camaro be to wide?Seems I have seen new front clips to use mustang2 pretty pricey.
