I am building a 33 Willys coupe with a Mustang II type suspension. I have a crossmember and shortened rack and pinion unit I got from Fat Man. The question I have is related to control arms and shocks. I intend to buy tubular control arms and run the Carrera Mustang II coilover shocks. The info I have found imply that these units will work with stock or tubular setups. Although I intend to start off with tubular arms and the Mustang II coilover, does anyone know any reason why they will not work with tubular lower arms that are for coil spring and standard shock? If this will work, it will permit me at a later date, if I want, to go to standard shocks and coils without having to change out the lower arms.
Any help will be appreciated.

depending on the style a-arm you get (standard, tubular,narrowed,coil-over specific,& manufacturer),the spring pocket is eliminated on the bottom a-arm. this prevents the use of standard spring & shock set-up.

Thanks FastFord. What I was trying to do was kill two birds with one stone. I am going to get tubular arms. What I wanted to do was to see if anyone knew if I got the lower tubular arms for regular springs and shocks, if I could also run the Mustang II coilovers made by Carrera as well. This way I could always go back to standard springs and shocks if I wanted to. I have written Carrera but not gotten a return response. Their add implies that the Mustang II coilover will fit under a standard Mustang II suspension by removing the coils and standard shocks. If they fit that situation, I don't know why they won't fit tubular arms for shocks and springs. Maybe i'm trying to split a pea.

Fatman makes a tubular lower arm with changable plates so you can change from coilovers to spring or change to air bags. Sounds like what you are looking for.

There are a couple of different set ups for the lower control arms for the mustang 2.I have Heidts stainless tubular upper and lowers a-arms on my 33 Willys delievry,I have coil overs on the front,but without the struts,on my set up,you could not switch to the std.shock arrangement with coil overs.When I purchased my set up,you could go either way with the lower tubular arms thru heidts,the other set up had the struts.Just make sure you get the set for the stock application.
