62 corvette aluminum intake manifold

I have a 62 corvette aluminum intake manifold that has the plenum chamber welded closed between the left and right side. I was wondering if this may have been done in earlier years for performance reasons. If not, can someone tell me why this may have been done.

Thanks

re: 62 corvette aluminum intake manifold

Do you have the part number from the intake?
A picture would be good.
It sounds like someone worked on it, maybe took off the devider to see if it would run better.
Some intakes have a section removed to help the signal to the carb.
I never seen one welded from the factory.
It would probably be from a 327 motor, duel plane.
