WoooHooo, garage up and drive paved

The pavers just finished the driveway yesterday and the garage shell is done. It's 48x28 and divided in two to provide parking for two "normal" cars on one end and my shop and hot rod(s) on the other end. As you can see from the pics, I have a long way to go on the shop section. If you look close you can see the electrical wiring is just about done and the interior partition wall has been studded out.

The shop end will be fully insulated and will have a metal ceiling and plywood walls. It will have an LP heater for those long winter months up here in the northwoods.

Hey Schnitz,

You ought to come up for the "Lake of the Torches" car show on Sept. 19 right here in Lac du Flambeau. I'm about 3 minutes from the show site. In fact, I can see the site across the lake when I stand out on my dock.

I'm hoping to have everything in the garage done, including the shop, by the end of August or early Sept. Depends on how lazy I get.

I'll have to talk Mrs. Schnitz into that.... LOL
Sounds like a great time. I'm only an hour from Crown Point Classics in Hazelhurst. I gotta make it there again.

You must not be too far from Medford. I'm heading down there for a show tomorrow (Sunday).

I'm straight south on 51 to 29 in Wausau. Ya probably came right past my neck of the woods. I spent the day at a birthday party over in Tigerton. I gotta start following the local car show scene. There's plenty of good ideas I'm missing out on.

re: WoooHooo, garage up and drive paved

"Slightly off kilter" Larry,

Ummmm, Yesterday?

Actually, I thought about going bigger, like adding a second story storage area, or making the footprint larger, but I was already beyond my budget to start with. Fortunately I have access to a second garage (you can just barely see it peaking around the right side of the new garage in the second pic.) so I can keep a lot of the smaller toys, like the boat, snowmobiles, garden tractors, snowblowers, lawn mowers etc., from cluttering up the new space.

The biggest drawback to the final construction may well turn out to be ceiling height. I went with a truss roof with 9' clearance. This is enough room for my KwikLift but I wouldn't ever be able to upgrade to a full size lift without major alterations in at least one section of the roof. But then I guess we can never achieve the perfect garage.

re: WoooHooo, garage up and drive paved

Well, other than the 2 studs being out of plumb... JUST KIDDING !!

Nice "2nd Home"!!! Don't forget to run cable , telephone and water......

And whats this about 2 normal cars being parked in there? Normal cars DO NOT GET SHOP SPACE !! Your gonna lose your Hotrodders membership, if your not careful! (at least don't TELL anyone your parking your daily drivers in there !)

(Get that T-111 stained or painted quick. It deteriorates quick in the weather !)

Enjoy!!

Actually it IS stained. I just haven't painted the trim work yet. The stain is a fairly light color to match the house.

I guess to keep my membership in good standing I'll have to paint flames on the wife's Rav4 and on my Toyota pickup. That way ALL the vehicles is the garage will qualify as hot rods.

Looks VERY nice. I wish I had that much driveway space. Heck, I wish I had that much garage space! I'm absolutely jealous. Oh well, I'm young, I have something to look forward to
