Kill Switch
Doc Here
![]() The wire you want is brown. (See Attachment, Schematic for your Car) Th Gauge wire will be exactly the same as provided with the stock harness gauge or better. Be advised, this switch must always be in the "ON" position for normal operation. If it accidentally get knocked off, you may end up looking for problems you don't have. I always recommend, From past experience, If your not using the switch as anti~theft protection, use a lighted switch, so you will know it's on and operating, Or better yet, get a double throw, single pole, switch and on the "Off" side of the terminals hook a Buzzer different sounding from the car's stock buzzers so you will know when the kill switch is off, before you go looking for a bad Ignition, or dead fuel pump... Or at least a 12 volt red led mounted on the dash... Hope it helps Doc

wire
Doc here
![]() You want the wire that comes off the run side of the ignition switch. Or the wire that supplies 12 volts to the coil. If it's like the Chevy schematic above, it should be brown. Hope it helps! Doc

If you are using it as a theft deterrent, I figure that anyone that want's it bad enough is going to get it but might as well make them work for it

I did the same thing with the cigarette lighter except I put a push-on push-off switch from radio shack at the bottom and just use my finger to activate. It's connected to the Park/Neutral ignition lockout on the transmission so in the off position it thinks its in gear and won't start.

Now wait a minute, I think I missed something... How did you keep the lighter from heating up and popping out? That's a pretty sweet idea... |

when I had a car with an electric fuel pump I would just pull the fuse to the pump.

I bought a battery disconnect switch that is installed between the negative battery cable and the post.---The switch has a nobe on it that one can remove which makes it impossible for any-one to start or take the car....Good luck...

re: I want to install an underdash ignition kill switch in my 67 nova...can you help?
when I put a kill switch on my HEI setup, I ran a nice fat power wire to a high-amp headlight relay that you can get at auto zone, and switched that on and off. That way I bypassed all of the old 1964 "points" wiring (and the resistor wire) and didn't have to run my power wire in and out of the passenger compartment.

Gemini86,
Take out the heater coil and solder in a couple of pennys so that they make the contact when the lighter is pushed in. This becomes a grounding switch so you can use it to close a relay or use it to ground out the ignition when it is pushed in. Lance |

Yes I remember those days, as I would just pull the coil wire also. Then someone stole the car and when I found it ,it had one spark plug removed and shoved into the coil and distributor, and it ran on seven cylinders until it ran out of gas !!!
