You could use your intake and distributor on the Z28 engine and not have to use a computer.

The transmission is a overdrive and there are wiring kits available to use it without the GM factory computer.

Post re: 1985 camaro box query

Yes, the 305 will bolt up to the Turbo 350 just like the 350 SBC did.

The 305 and the 350 share the same stroke crankshaft specifications ( 3.48 inches ). The 350 SBC comes with a 4.00 bore, which makes the engine larger in cubic inches.

The 350 is much more sought after because of the power it produces compared to a 305.

If may well be better to rebuilt your 350 and forget about the donor car. You will have spent a fair amount of money and time to have a slower vechicle with a NOT fresh engine.

On the other side of the coin, if your 350 is hard to start, hard to cool in a Model A, and just plain out wore out........the 305 could solve part of your problems.

305's, as a rule, run cooler, are easier to crank, and get by on lower octane fuel.

Hope this helps.......

Post re: 1985 camaro box query

thanks for the advise, ive been thinking on it and i think ill look into a rebuild or a crate as the cost of a dicent rebuild overhere in England would be more than a crate, how do you guys over there rate the crate motors
