1934 Chevy Coupe
1934 Chevy Street Rod
This is a 1934 Chevy 3-Window Coupe, submitted by Mike and Lynn Carbaugh of Glen Arm, Maryland. Note the careful clearance between vehicle and shrubbery. The experienced rodder knows that a gorgeous flame paint job like this Chevy's torch-red with blue and pearl white flames is so hot that it can easily set a nearby bush on fire!

VDO gauges, an Ididit steering column, and a Billet Specialties "Alien" steering wheel lend a masterful touch to this gray leather interior.

One might consider blue flames to be an eclectic parting from more traditional red and orange-themed flames. However, maybe the designers of this award-winner had a little bit of history in mind when they decided on blue flames for their Chevy. You see, in 1934, Chevrolet introduced a new type of valve and rocker arm arrangement into their standard inline six-cylinder engine that had been incorporated into their vehicles. The resulting increase in performance earned the 1934 model-year engine the nickname "Blue Flame". Coincidence or classiness? Maybe a little of both.
