This is a 1937 Ford Phaeton with a removable Carson top, submitted by Dave and Darlene Kohler of Hampstead, Maryland.

As for what's under the hood, Dave said "if it ain't stainless, it's chrome". This 350 LT1 is almost like a solar eclipse, if you stare directly at it, you could hurt your eyes! It's hooked to a 350 turbo and a 9-inch rear.

The interior is white leather with inlaid carpet in the interior and the trunk. The dash is Dakota Digital, with an Ididit chrome steering column.
Check out the headlights on this Phaeton. They're custom, and it's not a huge surprise. Up until 1937, Ford's headlights were generally externally mounted as "separate" attachments, but in 1937, they switched over to this attractive style of mounting the headlights directly in the front fender.
"Phaeton" is a pretty cool word, and has some interesting history behind it. In ancient Greek mythology, Phaeton was the son of the sun god Helios. One day, he took his dad's chariot of the sun for a joyride. Much like this week's featured vehicle, the sun chariot was very powerful, and Phaeton could not control it. As it screamed across the heavens, it scorched the skies, and, when it came too close to the earth, Zeus was forced to destroy it with a thunderbolt. Eventually, the word "Phaeton" came into use in the English language as a "four-wheeled open carriage, usually drawn by a pair of horses". These days, it simply means a touring car, or a large, open vehicle with a foldable or removable top.Search thousands of hot rod sites.
