1940 Chevy coupe front suspension

I was pretty confused about the knee-action suspension on the early Chevies. I assumed that since my 40 had a hydraulic setup on the upper control arm that it was a knee-action setup. Well, it definitely isn't the first time I've been wrong (ask my wife).

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has kept the independent front suspension on their 40 Chevy, but just added a shock?

Thank you in advance,
Paul
