I mocked up the front of the hood and painted some grills on the front for a look see..........

I made a hammer form for new headlight plates as the pieces i had used the first time were horrendous. The last pic shows the mess that was on there.

So, things are moving along pretty good at this time, or so I thought, when I realized the bottom edge of the hood would need to be like a roller coaster to follow this new front clip. I had matched my patterns and buck very carefully. It would have helped tremendously had I made the buck the right shape to begin with.....D'OH!

Out comes the Bondo to make a buck out of my brand new metal.

If that wasn't back enough, the headlight plates were canted inwards towards the inside. Set number three coming up. I made a jig to hold them straight as I installed them.

Forgot to post some pics when I shoved it outside for a look see before cutting out the grills and trimming up the hood opening.

I scored a couple of 37 Ford headlight buckets on eBay. I soaked them in molasses for some super easy rust removal. Added turn signals at the bottoms.

I got some halogen lights from Bob Drake I believe. I cut some 24 ga stainless from work to line the buckets and added a cover over the turn signals.

Finally got the front clip kind of done, but not really.

A lot of metal finishing later, but still has little waves and bumps in it. A bit of Bondo will be fine with me.

Sandblasting always brings out the worst in old tin....damn, I thought I had a relatively rust free deck lid.

It was a ton of work metal finishing as I had no experience on low crown panels when I made the patch, so I had to finish shaping it after welding it into position....damn....

Crazy project to take on when you know nothing, eh?
