1962 Impala SS ?
guys, my 1952 Cadillac deal fell through so I have turned my attention to a 1962 impala SS that I can get pretty cheap. I have a choice between the 1962 SS and a 1965 standard model. I think I'm going with the SS. But my question is this. All of the SS badges, interior, center console and trim is there. the VIN number indicates that this is a true SS. My question is there is an automatic transmission gear indicator on the steering column with a place for the column gear shift which is missing. The pedal assembly in the car is for a manual transmission and there is a three speed shifter in the floor. Did any of the SS's come like this from the factory with a three speed manual tranny or would it be safe to assume that the past owner switched from automatic to manual. There is no engine or transmission in the car so there's no way for me to know.
